I am a licensed marriage and family therapist in the state of California #131146.
I work at a group practice called Modern Sessions, and offer virtual therapy sessions online using HIPAA compliant video platforms.
I hold a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Washington and a master's degree in counseling psychology with an emphasis on marriage and family therapy from the University of San Francisco.
I am passionate about working with individuals, adults and teens, and LGBTQIA+ populations.
My specialties include:
I am trained in eye movement reprocessing and desensitization (EMDR), trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT), and parent-child interaction therapy (PCIT).
I strive to provide therapy that is trauma-informed, culturally competent, sex-positive, and recognizes the diversity of the human experience. I offer a non-judgmental space of self-exploration, healing, and discovery.
Modern sessions is the group practice I currently work with. We provide specialized therapy that meets the needs of clients dealing with a wide range of issues and needs, and provide therapy to clients in Roseville and throughout California, Idaho, and Arizona.
At Modern Sessions, we’re on a mission to create a different kind of therapy experience.
We are anti-awkward, stuffy, or cookie-cutter. We’re here to provide the individualized, tailored expertise you deserve in a space that’s affirming, genuine, and wholly focused on your healing.
Check out the Modern Sessions website for more information about me, our practice, our other clinicians, and how we work.
I am an in-network provider and accept health insurance plans through United Healthcare, Optum, and Aetna.
For all other insurance plans, I am considered an out-of-network provider. I can provide you with a Superbill for potential insurance reimbursement. Contact your insurance company directly to inquire about potential reimbursement as I cannot guarantee reimbursement of therapy fees.
$160 for a 50 minute session
I require 24 hours notice for all cancellations. Failure to cancel within that time frame results in a charge of your full session fee.
You have a right to receive a "Good Faith Estimate" explaining how much your mental health care will cost. A "Good Faith Estimate" will be provided to you at the start of therapy.
What is revealed by you is protected by legal, ethical and professional standards. All material is confidential and not released without your consent except by court order or information related to suspected child abuse, elder abuse, threatened homicide or suicide.
Research indicates that therapeutic outcome is most influenced by "goodness of fit" between the client and therapist. My advice is to speak with a prospective therapist by phone first, and trust your gut! Ask yourself: do I feel I can trust this person? Can I open up to them about what is going on? Will I respect their input?
If you are interested in working together, reach out to me at (916) 865-7763 or Erin@modernsessions.com in order to discuss scheduling a free 15-minute consultation. You can also contact me through the Contact Me section of this website.
I typically return emails, calls, and texts between 10am and 5pm Monday-Friday. If you are having a mental health emergency, please call 911, 988, the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255, or go to the nearest emergency room.
New client forms must be filled out before beginning therapy. An email containing this paperwork can be sent to you prior to your first counseling appointment.
Ultimately therapy is an investments in yourself AND of course you can get better! That being said, counseling is a very individual process and the length of therapy depends greatly on you and your needs. Part of the intake process is determining your goals and setting expectations together about how long the therapy process may take.
